Delete Your Account

Last updated: 14 August 2026

This page explains how to delete your data from DiveBuddy, the scuba diving app published by DiveBuddy on Google Play and the App Store. You can delete your account and its data at any time, directly in the app — you do not need to contact us first, and you do not need to give a reason.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and no recovery — once it is done, we cannot restore your account or anything in it, even if you ask us the same day.

Delete it in the app

  1. Open DiveBuddy and sign in
  2. Go to Profile → Settings
  3. Open the Account section
  4. Tap Delete Account and confirm

Your account is removed straight away and you are signed out.

If you cannot access the app

If you have lost access to your account or can no longer install the app, email info@dbuddy.app from the address your account is registered to, asking us to delete it. We will confirm once it is done.

We can only act on requests from the registered email address — that is how we verify the account is yours. Requests from any other address will be refused, for your protection.

What is deleted

Everything tied to your account is permanently removed:

What stays

How long it takes, and what is retained afterwards

Deletion happens immediately, not after a delay. There is no grace period, no queue and no soft-delete state.

No additional retention period applies. We do not keep a backup copy of your account for later restoration, and nothing listed under "What is deleted" above is retained after the deletion completes. The only things that persist are the two items under "What stays" — dive sites you contributed to the public catalogue, which carry no personal data and are not attributed to you, and any records we are legally obliged to keep, of which we currently hold none.

Deleting some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to choose between all and nothing. Inside the app you can remove individual pieces of your data at any time, and your account stays exactly as it is:

If you want something removed that you cannot delete yourself, email info@dbuddy.app from your registered address and tell us what to erase. This is your right to erasure under the GDPR, and it applies to specific data as well as to your whole account.

Taking a break instead

If you only want to step away for a while, you do not have to delete anything — Settings → Account also lets you suspend your account, which hides your profile from other divers and keeps your data. Signing back in reactivates it.
